Detailed Consultations

Regular dental exams are a critical part of preventive health care. Most patients attend the dentist for an examination for dental caries and gum disease. The examination includes evaluating your risk of developing other oral problems and checking your face, neck and mouth for abnormalities. A dental exam might also include dental X-rays (radiographs) or other diagnostic procedures.

Your dentist will likely discuss your diet and oral hygiene habits and might demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques. Other topics might include lifestyle factors such as smoking and alcohol intake that can affect oral health and possible cosmetic improvements to your teeth.

For patients that require a more extensive examination to discuss specific issues then a more thorough consultation where the dentist will listen to your concern and expectations. Following the necessary tests and investigations a written treatment plan will be available so that we can agree on the most appropriate treatment for you.

Your dentist will recommend the appropriate regular dental exams at intervals determined as recommended to the NICE guidelines.

Even if you no longer have your natural teeth, it's important to see your dentist for regular dental exams to maintain your oral health and the usefulness of your replacement teeth.
